What it means
MNQ is worth $2 per point (NQ is $20) and MES $5 per point (ES is $50). Micro gold (MGC) is 10 ounces against the standard 100.
Example
A 50-point move on one MNQ contract is $100.
In practice
Micros let you trade the same index and gold futures as professionals while risking a sensible fraction of a small account. With one tenth of the size, you can set the stop where the chart says it belongs and still keep the risk near 1%.
They also allow scaling: three micro contracts can be closed one at a time at different targets, which is impossible with a single standard contract.
What to watch for
Commissions are a larger share of each trade on micros, so very short scalps cost proportionally more. Small contracts also tempt traders into holding too many: ten micros carry exactly the risk of one standard contract.
