The labels sort swing points into ones to lean on and ones to aim at. A strong low did its job by producing a new high, so buyers have a reason to defend it. A weak high has not broken anything yet, so the trend is expected to take it out.
In an uptrend, traders place stops below the strong low and treat the weak high as the next target.
What to watch for
Strong means expected to hold, not certain to hold. When a strong low does break, that is important information: the trend has changed character.
