In practice
A void is a long, fast stretch of one-directional candles with almost no overlap. So little trading took place there that price often moves through the same area just as quickly when it returns.
Traders treat voids as zones that price is likely to revisit, and as paths with few obstacles: a target on the far side of a void can be reached fast.
What to watch for
A return can take hours or weeks, or stop partway. Do not count on a void being filled completely, and do not expect it to offer support or resistance in the middle.
