What it means
Enter on the break, on the close, or on the retest: each trades missed moves against false signals.
In practice
A breakout marks the end of balance: one side has finally absorbed the orders at a level. Traders judge its quality by how price leaves, looking for a decisive close, wide candles and volume above average.
There are three usual entries. Entering as the level breaks catches every move but also every false one, entering on the close filters some failures, and waiting for a retest gives the best price but misses the moves that never come back.
What to watch for
Many breakouts fail, particularly those against the higher-timeframe trend, in quiet hours or after a move that has already run far. Decide before entering where the breakout would be proven false.
